About me

A collaborative,
client-centered approach.

Nora Gift, LCMHCA

My approach

I'm a client-centered therapist who believes in the power of genuine connection and collaborative healing. My approach is emotionally focused and non-judgmental — meeting you exactly where you are, and moving at a pace that feels right for you.

Together, we'll explore how your developmental history shapes your present experiences, identify patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and work toward nervous system regulation. My goal is for you to feel truly understood, gain insight into how your past impacts your present, and develop the resilience to break free from cycles that keep you stuck.

Reaching out isn't easy — I respect that. You don't have to figure it out alone.

What therapy is

Therapy is a space to talk openly, make sense of what you're going through, and work toward change. It isn't about being told what to do. It's about having support and room to understand yourself more fully.

What online therapy looks like

A lot like therapy in person. Our first session is a chance to get to know each other, go over paperwork, and start thinking about your goals. We'll talk about what has and hasn't worked for you before, so we start from a solid foundation. From there, we work together toward your goals.

Sessions are 50 minutes. How long therapy lasts varies from person to person. Some people feel better after a few sessions, while others benefit from several months of work. It's hard to predict ahead of time, and we'll check in on progress together along the way.

Benefits and risks

Therapy can bring relief, new insight, stronger coping skills, and healthier relationships. It can also bring up difficult feelings or memories, and sometimes things feel harder before they get better. That's a normal part of the process, and we'll move at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Confidentiality

What you share in therapy is private, including the fact that you're seeing me. I won't share information about you without your written permission or a court order. North Carolina law requires a few exceptions to protect safety:

  • Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, older adult, or disabled adult must be reported to the appropriate agency.
  • If someone threatens serious harm to another person, I may need to take protective steps, such as notifying the person at risk, contacting police, or seeking hospitalization.
  • If someone is at risk of harming themselves, I may need to seek hospitalization or contact family or others who can help keep them safe.
